All in a Days Work

It was a busy Wednesday afternoon for MBKR after a call from the Griffith University Tracking Team.  They were surveying koala’s in the Petrie area and discovered three sick koalas.  The Rescue Team had to call in extra backup with two rescues needing to be carried out in the same area.

The first koala (named Kuzbha) was very high in the tree but thanks to tree climber Peter we were able to get her down without too much stress to the animal.

The second rescue was a mother (Victoria) and baby boy (Nino), both with cystitis.  The baby was first to come down and mum quickly followed.

All 3 koalas were taken to the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital at Beerwah for assessment and treatment, and will be released back into their home range.

Thanks Pete!
