Twin koalas or a koala adoption?
Mother Augustine was taken to the wildlife hospital with her 470 gram back rider called Gus. She had a mild form of conjunctivitis, commonly known as “pink eye” – which can be treated very well.
After 2 days in care, another male joey was taken to the hospital. He lost his mother who was hit by a car and died from severe head trauma.
As Rupert was exactly the same weight as Gus, it was decided to put them all together and see if they would accept each other – and they did!
Mum Augustine is happy for both boys to feed from her milk and both of the boys are happy to share mum. Everybody gets some supplementary food, and it’s amazing to see they are all thriving.

We need lots more koala happy endings like this one – well done mum Augustine!
