Heartfelt words for “Winn”

For one so young Winn left a lasting impression on quite a few people in her last days. Here’s Marilyn’s story.

Rita was driving from Mt Samson when she came across a koala crossing the road at Ekko Ridge Cl, Cashmere. Apparently Winn just stopped in the middle of the road and had to be chased off the road and up a tree on opposite side for her own safety. It was then that Rita noticed the koala’s sore, red crusty eyes and called MBKR for assistance. I arrived to find a young female with the worst conjunctivitis I had ever seen. The special koala trap was set and later Winn came down. She was such a quiet little girl (just beautiful to look at) and she turned out to be only 4yrs old.

Once I found out from the hospital that she had to be put to sleep due to a large cyst I rang Rita to leave a message as we had communicated at least 15-20 talking about Winn. At 9.30 pm last night I received this Text message from Rita (just tore my heart out) to know how much Winn had effected a passerby.

Text message – “Dear Marilyn. I have been balling my eyes out all night since I got your message. I can’t thank you enough for all that you did for little Winn. In a few days when I am able to speak about her without bursting into tears, I will call you to thank you personally. I met her for all of 15 or 20 minutes, yet she had such a profound effect on me that I will never forget her. With much love and thanks for the wonderful work that you do. Rita ”

Since yor census day a couple of weeks back/ we got a visit from our local Mum and Baby Koala who were happily chewing away not fifty feet from our spare bedroom/ office window, they stayed around for most of the day /but were gone next day/ it was amazing to see how agile the little bloke was ,teetering on the smallest of twigs to reach his brecky, mum wasnt woried /she had taught him well!!
Both looked in good health, pls pass on our best wishes to Rita and let her know there are still survivors out there??
